Geezz..that really sucks! NEVER heard of this happening to any other Prowler? Now tell the truth Pharmcat..were you out there in your Prowler doing motocross about the corn furrows?? Looks like it's time for some KONI's?? Glad you're OK.. ------------------ dune buggy action? sorry about your shocks, i'll check mine in the morning five replies Dave Hill if you read this you might want to chime in. How bad if an issue is this????????? Toys >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>> Toys Toys Maybe they just don't realize they are SHOUTING...or...they don't know that if you depress the "Caps Lock" button a second time it disables them. sign..not a good thing to read about on vacation! Best regards, Kees ------------------ This message has been edited by kees on 03-29-2006 at 12:28 AM Does anyone know if this is covered under Chrysler's MAXCARE?PharmKat Well there I was at a friends house, showing off the car, and he popped the hood. Next thing I know he asks, "Why is one shock curved and the other strait?" I have no Idea what he is talking about, so I look in and see this sad image of the right fromt shock apparently broken. I don't know how long it has been like this, but I just had the recall done about 2 months ago, and surely the prowler tech would have noticed this right? It is a 2001 and I have heard that the shocks they came with can leak, but do they normally do this? I can only thank God that this didn't happen while driving, or that the whole front end didn't collapse.
Scottbutchcee Chromer This looks like the rare rotary shock option ... Larry Lord This is the third one I've heard of.
The shaft broke at the threads of the bushing end.
Time for a new shock.
I have some brand new MOPAR Koni assemblies if you need them. $150.00 each or $285.00 for a pair including shipping.

FMB Prowler Products. texasprowler i think i remeber pharmkat taking it out to the beach a while back NIKKI THIS HAPPENED TO ME A FEW MONTHS AGO BUT NO ONE PAID ATTENTION.......COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY.....HOPE YOU HAVE IT........ ed monahan http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/002330.html toys I just posted about a problem not exactly like this but similar in That Dave Hill with his orange Prowler had his shock top spring retainer Let go on him, causing him a lot of damage.
Like i said earlier it was the top spring retainer that let go not the shock.PharmKat Sorry, but no dune buggy action to report. Is there any chance this happened while they were doing the ball joint recall? I think the two areas are close. Sad that this has happened to others as well.
ScottRADCAT RICH Scott, wow never saw one like that, glad no damage occured,
i heard that it doesn't affect INCA's though
Richmspe01 your good luck if it btoke and bent the other way you would have exactly when it broke mike Bcoffman Gray Ghost Personally, I think the fact that some people persist in typing a message in all capital letters is the cause for the inattention. The human mind does not register the full impact of the message when it is all caps. A more literate person than I can probably explain why this is. Since I am not very literate, I can't tell you why this works this way. HUH!!! toys quote:

I have to agree with you on all CAPITAL LETTER responses.quincy PharmKat,
I have heard about this broken/bent shock issue multiple times. I don't know if its from hitting some really huge pot holes, RR tracks, or just some form of defect. You should change both front shocks for ride safety sake. I recommend the original Koni's that were on earlier Prowlers. They seem to last longer, but have a bit harsher ride.SkanKat Darn! Was cleaning the Kat last week when I saw something similar (not as bent/curved and on driver side). Took some pics and was going to go ask the Prowler Tech to take a look at it in the next oil change. kees Skankat, this was the exact situation i had on my drivers side
shock. Probably if you look into the aluminium hollow cross
member underneath (where the sping coils slide in to) you
will already find oil from the shock that has leaked into it.
Replaced mine with KONI's immediately. (See Larry Lord above)
No problems since.SkanKat Thanks Kees! I'll have to book an appt with Chrysler then. Hope it makes the drive there fine!
